Our clients desired a complete transformation of a characterless, five-bedroomed, north-London newbuild, to make it into a light-filled and welcoming family home.

Stripping the building right back to its brick walls, our first key move was to reinforce visual connections between inside and out, with views from the entrance through to the rear garden, thanks to a new glazed corner on the kitchen, which flows into a cantilevered, glazed extension.

The second key move was to create a triple height atrium space, encountered as you enter the house, into which we inserted a sculptural, sweeping staircase.

Vistas onto the surrounding greenery from every floor and room add a tranquil and restorative aspect to the home.
We created a strong, contemporary visual frame for this cantilevered addition, using patinated brass cladding, sourced from a foundry near Tottenham.

A master joiner from Brighton modeled and hand-drew every section of this staircase. Each element slotted into place exactly as intended, including a new rooflight commissioned and shipped from Germany

Our clients worked closely with us throughout, relishing the bespoke elements and resulting feel of craftsmanship and serenity.

The extension is oriented to create a generous exterior courtyard, an enticing space for relaxation and barbecues, with a swimming pool beyond.
An elegant, newbuild summer house has also been constructed from timber and clad in sustainable larch.
